- CWA made it unlawful to discharge any pollutant from a point source into navigable waters, unless a permit was obtained.
- The Safe Drinking Water Act. This ensures the quality of americas drinking water. Under SDWA, EPA sets standards for drinking water quality and overseas the states, luucalities, and water supplies who implement those standards.
- The coastal zone act/ section 6217 addresses nonpoint pollution problemsw in coastal waters. This requires states and territories with approved coastal zone managment programs to develop coastal nonpoint pollution control programs. In it's program a state or territory describes how it will implement nonpoint source pollution controls.
- Public Healthy Security and Bioterrorism Act addresses drinking water security and safety. Title IV requires drinking water system serving more than 3,300 persons to conduct assessments of their volnerabilites to terrorist attacks of other intortional acts.
